Carlos Vela could have fellow Mexican Jonathan dos Santos alongside him at Real Sociedad next season, at least if reports out of Spain are to be believed.
Mundo Deportivo reported Monday that talks between the parties are advanced and the deal could be done by the end of the week.
An article in AS states that Sociedad would like to buy the player, but that Barcelona want Dos Santos to remain part of the club and would prefer a loan deal.
Dos Santos seems to fit the bill with the Champions League qualifiers on the lookout for a midfielder after Asier Illarramendi signed for Real Madrid last week.
The younger Dos Santos brother has an offer from Anderlecht in Belgium and has also been linked in recent weeks to Celta Vigo, Villarreal and Valencia.
The 23-year-old has struggled for minutes at Barcelona, featuring in just three games in La Liga last season.
Getting game time at a team in La Liga could well push him into the Mexico national team reckoning ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Brazil, after an absence stretching back to March 2012.
