Report: Jets, Holmes agree to restructured deal

Santonio Holmes will be a member of the New York Jets in 2013.

Holmes agreed to a restructured contract, keeping him in the fold as the top receiver for a team unsure of who'll be at the trigger of its offense next season.

Releasing Holmes would've come with a salary cap charge of a $11.25 million.

Holmes' five-year, $45 million deal signed in 2010 called for a guaranteed salary of $7.5 million, but the Jets weren't hiding the need to reduce his cap figure.

Holmes, 29, played in four games in 2012 and caught 20 passes for 272 yards with one touchdown. He was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury after a 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
