Report: Jackson says no to Nets

Phil Jackson is not interested in becoming the next coach of the Brooklyn Nets, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

Jackson told Nets management that he would not consider filling the vacancy left when interim coach P.J. Carlesimo was let go Sunday after the team bowed out of the playoffs with a Game 7 loss at home to the Chicago Bulls in the first round, the New York Post and ESPNNewYork.com reported.

In fact, the Post reported that Jackson has no desire to coach again. His only interest in returning to the NBA apparently would be in a front-office position.

Carlesimo, who replaced Avery Johnson in Decenber, led the Nets to a 35-19 record in the regular season and the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Jackson, who won 11 NBA championships as coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, is the only candidate to be contacted so far by the Nets, CBSSports.com reported.
