Report: Howie Roseman got a 4- or 5-year extension in offseason

National Football Post

The Philadelphia Eagles have not been playing well enough to inspire confidence in much of anyone but the future of general manager Howie Roseman is secure.

Roseman had his contract extended by four or five years during the offseason, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. So, if coach Andy Reid is launched after this season – and that decision likely belongs to owner Jeff Lurie – it is most likely that Roseman will be leading the search for a new coach.

Roseman, 37, had one or two years remaining on his contract when a succession plan was put in place when Joe Banner departed the organization.

"He's one of the brightest young guys in the league," Lurie said of Roseman at the end of last season. "I'm very excited about what he brings to the table."

We’ll see what happens in Philadelphia. If Roseman isn’t part of the future, it will be expensive to pay him to go away.
