The San Francisco Giants have signed Japanese second baseman Kensuke Tanaka to a minor-league contract, which is expected to include an invitation to spring training, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Tanaka, 31, is expected to be in the running to make the Giants' roster as a utility infielder after hitting .300 with three home runs and 13 stolen bases last season for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Japan's Pacific League.
