Report: Giants to interview two OC candidates

The SportsXchange

The New York Giants are expected to interview two candidates to replace Kevin Gilbride as offensive coordinator, NFL.com reported.

The Giants were to bring in former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan and former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains on Wednesday.

Gilbride announced his retirement last week.

Sullivan was the Giants' wide receivers coach from 2004 to 2009 and their quarterbacks coach in 2010-11.

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz told Newsday on Wednesday that he's hoping for Sullivan because he would be familiar with the team's offense.

"I just think we need a refresher," Cruz said. "A refreshing face we know, one we're comfortable with, and we can go from there."

Loggains also is set to interview with Detroit on Friday when former Titans coach Mike Munchak meets with the Lions about their head-coaching vacancy. According to NFL.com, Loggains could be included in a deal if the Lions decide to hire Munchak, who was let go by the Titans on Saturday.
