Veteran pitcher Jon Garland
is expected to sign a Major League contract with the Colorado Rockies
if he passes a physical on Sunday, MLB.com reported.
Garland, 33, has not pitched since 2011 because he underwent shoulder surgery
He was signed to a minor league contract by the Seattle Mariners
in February, but exercised the opt-out provision in his contract on Friday when he was told he would not be part of the Mariners' rotation to start the season.
Garland was 1-5 with a 4.33 ERA for the Dodgers in 2011.
