Report: Florida State's Fisher gets new contract

A new contract for Florida State's Jimbo Fisher that is in the works would put him among the 10 highest-paid coaches in college football, according to a report.

Fisher and Florida State agreed to an extension for five to seven years at an average of approximately $4.1 million per season, the Palm Beach Post reported Saturday night.

Fisher's current base salary is $2.75 million, which ranks 21st among FBS coaches.

Florida State is expected to make an announcement on the contract early next week.

Since Fisher replaced the legendary Bobby Bowden four years ago, the Seminoles have a 43-10 record. Florida State (12-0) is No. 1 in the polls for the first time since 2000, when they last reached the national championship game.
