Fan shows up at Schaub's house

The SportsXchange

Houston Texans fans aren't happy about the recent performance of Matt Schaub. So when a man showed up in the quarterback's driveway taking pictures, the family became a little nervious and informed police.

But contrary to earlier reports in Houston, angry fans did not confront Schaub at his house on Monday.

NFL security contacted the Texans and Houston police about the incident. No arrests were made and the uninvited visitor apparently left the scene without any trouble.

"This is a little unusual in that we don't normally have fans acting in this way, going to a player's residence, that sort of thing," NFL vice president of security Jeff Miller told NFL.com. "In this case, Monday afternoon, a vehicle pulled into his driveway. An unidentified individual yelled obscenities.

"The police department is involved. We've been in contact with them as we normally would for anything like this. And because its a team issue, they have a security director, we work with them. In this case, they'll be working closely with the police department. But it's going to be investigated and handled seriously by Houston Police Department."

Houston Police confirmed that Schaub's family contacted them and that there were no angry mobs at the residence.

"Police were not called to the home. No other information to release at this time," the Houston police department said on Twitter.

Schaub was pulled in the second half of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. In the first quarter, he threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown in an NFL-record fourth consecutive game. Three of his passes were picked off by the 49ers in the Texans' 34-3 loss.

Backup T.J. Yates replaced Schaub in the fourth quarter and finished the game for Houston (2-3).

"Obviously, it's tough right now. After what we've been through tonight, (and) going back to last weekend and even the week before," Schaub said. "I am very confident in my ability and everyone in this locker room."

Schaub is still expected to be the starter for the Texans' home game on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
