Report: Eagles give Hughes extension

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Brandon Hughes received a one-year extension that puts him under contract through 2013, according to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com.

A key special teams player who is also part of the secondary rotation, Hughes was scheduled to be a restricted free agent following this season. He was a fifth-round pick out of Oregon State by San Diego in 2009. The Eagles signed him off the Giants' practice squad in November of 2010.

Hughes reportedly received a $50,000 raise this year to $540,000 and $250,000 in performance escalators each of the next two seasons. He'll make $630,000 in base salary next year.
