Perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles erred when in the team's decision to fire defensive coordinator Juan Castillo, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
Castillo's dismissal by head coach Andy Reid came in the days following a crushing overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on Oct. 14. He was replaced by defensive backs coach Todd Bowles.
One of the team's decision-makers described the move to the paper as a "miscalculation" after the Eagles allowed 371 yards of total offense in a 28-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
A week earlier, Philadelphia allowed the Atlanta Falcons to score on their first six possessions in a 30-17 win.
Castillo was promoted from offensive line coach in Jan. 2011, a decision that was soundly criticized by many at the time.
