Report: Dickey expected to be traded soon

R.A. Dickey, the 2012 National League Cy Young Award winner, is expected to be traded by the New York Mets, perhaps as soon as Friday, ESPNNewYork.com reported Friday.

The report is based on information from a source familiar with the discussions.

"If I was in Vegas, then I would put some money on it," the source told ESPNNewYork.com, "but the way this situation has gone, you never know."

The Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels are believed to be the teams in the trade discussions for Dickey.

The Mets have been unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension with Dickey.

He is under contract at $5 million for next season, and ESPN.com reported that Dickey wants a two-year extension worth somewhere between $26 million and $28 million. The Mets have only been willing to offer $20 million over those two additional years, according to ESPN.com.
