Report: Diamondbacks agree to deal with P Hudson
The Arizona Diamondbacks reached a minor-league deal with right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson, ESPN.com reported Friday.
Hudson won 16 games for Arizona in 2011 before having two reconstructive surgeries on his throwing elbow.
Hudson had Tommy John surgery in July 2012. He had a second surgery in June after re-tearing a ligament in the elbow. The Diamondbacks made him a free agent earlier this month after declining to tender him a 2014 contract.
Hudson, 26, is 28-17 with a 3.68 ERA over four seasons with the Chicago White Sox and Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are looking to upgrade their rotation that includes Patrick Corbin, Wade Miley, Brandon McCarthy, Trevor Cahill and Randall Delgado. They plan to bid on Japanese free agent Masahiro Tanaka and are among the teams interested in free agent Matt Garza.
Arizona may also be interested in trading for Tampa Bay Rays left-hander David Price and Chicago Cubs righty Jeff Samardzija.
