Report: Incognito suspended for rest of season

The SportsXchange

Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito will remain on the suspended list for the remainder of the season but will be paid while the NFL completes its investigation of the Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday.

Incognito's suspension was scheduled to end after Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, based on the rules in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Dolphins had three options: release Incognito, reinstate him, or reach an agreement with Incognito to keep him with pay but not have him on the active roster. Apparently, the parties settled on the third option.

The Dolphins suspended Incognito on Nov. 3 for detrimental conduct toward to teammate Jonathan Martin.

Miami and Incognito agreed to an extension last month to prolong the suspension, with pay, from four to six weeks. Now they have reached another agreement.

Ted Wells, the lead investigator in the NFL probe into the incident, has yet to complete his report.

According to the ESPN report, a second interview between Wells and Incognito scheduled for last week was canceled.
