Veteran defensive back Antoine Winfield is willing to come out of retirement if he finds the right situation.
Winfield signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent. He was released in September, when Winfield said he was leaning toward retirement. But his agent did not file the official paperwork with the NFL, leaving the door open for his return.
"Antoine definitely appreciates coach (Leslie Frazier), and some of his best friends in life play on that team right now," agent Ashanti Webb told Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "He was there for basically a decade, so Minnesota will always hold a special place in his heart. But I haven't heard anything substantive from them to bring back to Antoine."
Winfield could aid a Vikings' secondary that is again running short on healthy cornerbacks. General manager Rick Spielman said Wednesday he "can't rule anything out. You never know."
