Starting pitcher Matt Garza, who has been suffering from a strained left lat, reportedly won't join the Chicago Cubs until early May.
Yet MLB.com reported that Garza is hopeful he will be ready by mid-April.
The Cubs starting rotation is set with Jeff Samardzija as opening day starter followed by Edwin Jackson, Travis Wood, Scott Feldman and Carlos Villanueva .
Scott Baker is recovering from Tommy John surgery and won't make his first spring training start until Sunday. Samardzija is entering his second season as a starter.
