Report: Cowboys TE coach John Garrett headed to Bucs

The SportsXchange

John Garrett is leaving the Dallas Cowboys to become wide receivers coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to an report.

Garrett currently is the Cowboys' tight ends coach and passing-game coordinator, and the brother of head coach Jason Garrett.

Garrett's departure would not be unexpected. He was not well-liked by other members of the coaching staff, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported last week.

His departure would be the fourth for the Dallas coaching staff after an 8-8 season in 2012. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was fired earlier this month, and running backs coach Skip Peete and assistant strength and conditioning coach Walt Williams left the team.

Garrett has been with the Cowboys since 2007.
