Report: Bruce Irvin suspended for Adderall use
A four-game suspension for Seattle Seahawks defensive end Bruce Irvin was announced Friday and now word comes out that he was done in by a positive test for Adderall.
Dave Mahler of KJR-950 AM reports that Irvin’s failed drug test was the result of Adderall and that he did not appeal the suspension that will keep him out of the team’s first four games.
Adderall is only permissible for players to use with a prescription. It is typically used to treat ADHD. It is believed that athletes will use the drug to mask the presence of performance-enhancing drugs.
Irvin is the sixth Seahawks player to be suspended for violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs in the last two years. Richard Sherman’s four-game suspension was overturned on appeal.
