Browns hire Farmer as assistant GM

The Browns have agreed with Eagles DE Juqua Parker on a one-year, $3 million contract, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday.

Parker, 33, notched 1½ sacks in 12 games in 2011. He played seven seasons for Philadelphia after beginning his career with Tenneseee.

Parker is the second defensive end the Browns have added in free agency. They signed Bengals DE Frostee Rucker to a five-year deal on Thursday.

The way we see it

Parker improves the Browns' DE depth. Browns GM Tom Heckert has added several former Eagles who have helped the defense, with LB Chris Gocong and CBs Sheldon Brown and Dimitri Patterson all key contributors last season.
