Report: Broncos want Dumervil to to take a pay cut

The SportsXchange

The Broncos want defensive end Elvis Dumervil to agree to a pay cut, and he might be released if he doesn't, the Denver Post reported.

The two sides have not talked since Friday, when the Broncos and Dumervil's agent traded proposals.

"Elvis has been working out, he's healthy, he feels great," agent Marty Magid told the Post. "He wants to stay with the Broncos. Right now, we're waiting to hear back from them."

Dumervil is halfway through a six-year, $61.5 million deal.

The Broncos may spend the next few days determining whether they can sign an available defensive end for less money and release Dumervil. Dwight Freeney, John Abraham, Cliff Avril and Osi Umenyiora are among the available pass-rushers.
