Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Alex Gonzalez will be sidelined the rest of the season because of a torn anterior-cruciate ligament, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Monday. Gonzalez, 35, has not decided when he will have surgery, and will receive treatment for about a week to see how his knee responds. "For all practical purposes, I'm told it's a 6-8 month rehab," Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash told the Journal Sentinel. "Alex is going to have surgery. It's just a matter of who is going to perform it." Gonzalez was injured Saturday when his knee buckled as he was sliding into second base. The Brewers signed Gonzalez in the offseason to a one-year, $4.25 million deal. He is hitting .259 with four home runs in 24 games this season.
