Report: Blackmon entering rehab center

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon is entering a substance abuse treatment facility, ESPN reported Sunday.

Blackmon was suspended for the rest of the season Friday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

The former first-round draft pick was previously suspended the first four games of this season for a similar offense. He can apply for reinstatement before next season.

The NFL Players Association is pushing the league to help players seek treatment for substance abuse problems rather than suspend them. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith recently rejoined the team after he was released from an alcohol treatment center.

Blackmon, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 draft, has 29 catches for 415 yards with a touchdown in four games this season. Jacksonville is on a bye.

Blackmon has been arrested twice for alcohol-related offenses since 2010. The second arrest, which occurred a month after he was drafted, put him in the league's substance-abuse program.
