The Chicago Bears hired Mel Tucker as defensive coordinator, NFL.com reported Friday.
Tucker was the Jacksonville Jaguars' defensive coordinator and assistant head coach from 2009-12. Before that, he was the Cleveland Browns' defensive backs coach and then defensive coordinator from 2005-08.
It was earlier reported by the Washington Post that former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris would interview for the job on Saturday.
Morris spent the 2012 season as the Washington Redskins' defensive backs coach. The Redskins reportedly gave permission to the Bears to interview Morris, who is under contract.
Morris reportedly interviewed for the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator job, which went to former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton on Friday.
The Bears' job opened up when Rod Marinelli decided to leave the team after Marc Trestman was hired as head coach this week.
