Report: Asomugha to visit 49ers

Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will visit the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to a Sacramento Bee report.

Asomugha, 31, was released last week by the Philadelphia Eagles after having struggled for the past two seasons. He is guaranteed $4 million from the Eagles regardless of his next team or contract. The 11-year veteran was regarded as one of the league's top cornerbacks while playing for the Oakland Raiders.

The 49ers were interested in Asomugha when he was a free agent two years ago, but never scheduled a visit.

Asomugha might not find the open market to his liking this time around. He's definitely not going to touch the $60 million max value deal he scored from the Eagles in 2011.

Former Philadelphia Eagles' teammate Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos that will pay him $4 million in 2013.
