On Saturday, the New York Rangers reached a contract agreement with free agent center Jason Arnott.
A day later, the deal apparently was dead.
According to ESPNNewYork.com and TSN.ca, Arnott failed his team physical, scuttling his contract. Neither report indicated the reason he wasn't cleared.
The deal reportedly was worth between $1.6 million and $1.7 million, according to TSN, which first reported the move.
The 38-year-old veteran has played 18 seasons in the NHL. In 72 games for the St. Louis Blues last season, Arnott compiled 17 goals and 17 assists. For his career, Arnott has scored 417 goals in 1,244 games.
Rangers coach John Tortorella said Saturday the team is looking at multiple players for possible signings, ESPNNewYork.com reported.
