As part of his reporting on the tenuous Drew Brees franchise tag situation with the New Orleans Saints, ESPN's Chris Mortensen rolled out this little side nugget - that the Titans were willing to give Peyton Manning $25 million per season to come back to Tennessee.
Titans owner Bud Adams interjected himself into the process, even reportedly offering Manning a front office position once his playing days were done, but the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback still settled on the Denver Broncos and a five-year, $96 million package.Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker into temporary limbo to do so. So while Mortensen cited no source, the $25 million a year price tag from an owner who knows his window to win a Super Bowl in his lifetime is rapidly closing, it is not all that farfetched a scenario.
