Reliever Wilson stays with Dodgers

The SportsXchange

Reliever Brian Wilson and the Los Angeles Dodgers reached an agreement on a one-year, $10 million contract with a player option for 2015 worth a guaranteed $8.5 million, according to reports on Thursday.

Wilson did not pitch until late August after recovering from Tommy John elbow ligament reconstruction surgery in April 2012.

In 18 appearances for the Dodgers last season, he posted a 2-1 record with a 0.66 ERA in 13 2/3 innings and showed signs of improved velocity on the mound. In the regular season and playoffs, he allowed just one run in 19 2/3 innings.

The Dodgers plan to use Wilson, a three-time All-Star with the San Francisco Giants, as the primary setup man to closer Kenley Jansen.

The 31-year-old Wilson was with the Giants for seven years before joining the Dodgers. He has 131 career saves and a 3.13 ERA.
