SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees left the game when he was sacked by USC linebacker Lamar Dawson midway through the third quarter.

Rees was 14 of 21 passing at the time for 166 yards with two touchdowns to give the Irish a 14-10 lead. He stayed on the field for a moment after the sack, sat up briefly and then walked off the field on his own. Medical personnel were looking at him on the sidelines. There was no immediate word on whether he would return.

He was replaced by Andrew Hendrix, who was incomplete on his first two pass attempts.
