Redskins list TEs Davis, Reed, PK Forbath as questionable
Washington Redskins kicker Kai Forbath is hopeful he will be able to return to action in Oakland after missing the past two games with a strained groin. He was officially listed as questionable on Friday after kicking some field goals in practice.
"He did kick today, it went pretty good," said Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, who admitted he needed to see more before feeling comfortable with Forbath kicking at Oakland on Sunday.
"Well, he kicked, I think, a 48-yarder today. He didn't try anything farther than that," Shanahan said. "(Saturday) we'll try a little bit more to see if there's any tug on that area. If not, he should be ready to go. If he feels like he can kickoff and take a full stride then he'll play."
Midweek, Forbath said, "I'm feeling a lot better. There's no tender spots anymore. Every day we're making progress. I'm very hopeful for this week. (But) it's hard to tell unless you kick ball. The swing is fine, (but) when you make contact with it, it hurts."
Also listed as questionable are tight ends Fred Davis (ankle) and Jordan Reed (thigh). They took part in limited practice Friday and will be checked by the training staff on Saturday, with both potentially being game-day decisions.
The Redskins listed five players as questionable in all, and three more as probable: wide receiver Leonard Hankerson (hamstring), linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (knee) and safety Brandon Meriweather (shoulder).
Shanahan shrugged off the cross-country flight as a concern.
"We have a big plane," he joked. "We actually run these guys up and down the aisle - it's about 100 yards, something around a 100-yard range - so we'll get some exercise on the plane (laughing)."
