Redskins' Goff will miss second straight season

Redskins linebacker Jonathan Goff, who missed all of last season because of a torn anterior-cruciate ligament while he was with the Giants, tore the same ACL this past weekend and is out for the 2012 season as well.

Goff, 26, had started 16 games for the Giants in 2010, when he had 52 tackles and 26 assists.

Also, Redskins starting guard Kory Lichtensteiger had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday, according to the Washington Post, although coach Mike Shanahan expects him to return before the regular season begins.

Lichtensteiger, 27, tore his ACL last season, and that ligament is fine. However, he has experienced soreness in his knee, and after Lichtensteiger had an MRI, doctors recommended he have some loose particles removed now rather than wait.

He played in just five games last season, but started all five before being injured.
