The Washington Redskins have won three straight games to all of a sudden climb into the NFC playoff picture.
But the day after a 17-16 victory over the New York Giants, their defense took a hit as veteran cornerback Cedric Griffin was suspended for four games without pay for violation of the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Griffin has been the third cornerback for the Redskins this season. He will be eligible to return for the postseason – if the Redskins qualify. Earlier this season when Griffin missed three games with injuries, the Redskins used Richard Crawford in his place, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post.
