Red Sox to activate Nava as Crawford replacement
Outfielder Daniel Nava will be activated from the disabled list to replace Carl Crawford and be part of the platoon in left field with Crawford out for the season.
Crawford, scheduled for season-ending Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, hit .282 with 19 RBIs in 31 games.
Nava, 29, homered in a rehab assignment appearance Monday for Triple-A Pawtucket. He's been on the disabled list with a wrist injury.
Nava hit .251 in 65 games with the Red Sox this season with 17 doubles and 32 walks.
