TORONTO -- Shane Victorino hit a two-run single with two outs in the 11th inning, and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 Tuesday.
The Blue Jays forced extra innings when J.P. Arencibia tied the game at 2 with an eighth-inning home run against right-hander Junichi Tazawa.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia walked off Aaron Loup (4-5) in the 11th, and Will Middlebrooks singled to left. Jacoby Ellsbury's grounder to short forced Middlebrooks at second. Ellsbury stole second, and Victorino grounded a singled up the middle to score two runs.
Koji Uehara (3-0) who came in with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, also closed out the game in the bottom of the 11th.
The Red Sox improved to 4-4 on their road trip with two more to play. They handed the Blue Jays their third consecutive loss.
Blue Jays right-hander Todd Redmond pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Redmond, who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo for the game, was making his ninth appearance and sixth start of the season for Toronto.
Red Sox starter Ryan Dempster allowed one run in seven innings.
Jose Reyes was thrown out at home without a slide to end the Blue Jays' sixth after a single to right by Edwin Encarnacion. Victorino's throw arrived home well before Reyes.
Right-hander Sergio Santos entered with one out in the seventh and quickly allowed a run on a double by Middlebrooks and a single by Ellsbury. Ellsbury stole second, reached third on groundout by Victorino and scored on Dustin Pedroia's single for a 2-1 Boston lead.
Arencibia, who singled home Toronto's first run of the game, tied the game in the eighth when he greeted Tazawa with his 18th homer of the season on a 3-1 pitch.
The Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on a two-out single by Arencibia. Lawrie doubled to right with one out and took third on fly out to right by Maicer Izturis.
NOTES: The Blue Jays put RHP Josh Johnson (right forearm stain) on the 15-day disabled list prior to the game. He had been scheduled to start Wednesday against Boston. RHP Thad Weber was recalled from Buffalo to replace Johnson, but a starter for Wednesday had not been announced by game time. ... Boston C David Ross (concussion) played two rehabilitation games for Double-A Portland before going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday. ... Blue Jays CF Colby Rasmus (oblique) missed his second game in a row. ... Boston LHP Jon Lester (10-7, 4.37 ERA) will start Wednesday, his fifth start of the season against the Blue Jays. He is 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA in his first four starts against them. ... The game drew a crowd of 32,816 at Rogers Centre.
