Juninho's lapse in judgement has cost him an extra game and some cash. Follow GOAL.COM on Twitter
The New York Red Bulls' veteran Brazilian midfielder was suspended a game and fined an undisclosed amount for kicking a dead ball at Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen in stoppage time of his side's 1-0 loss last Wednesday.
Juninho was given a red card for the act, but the MLS Disciplinary Committee revealed Monday that what he did "constituted violent conduct that endangered the safety of his opponent," resulting in the extra ban on top of the automatic suspension for being sent off.
Juninho missed New York's 4-1 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday, and he'll be forced to sit out this weekend's match at Toronto FC as well.
