Real Sociedad says Liverpool hasn't made offer for Carlos Vela

Liverpool has not made an offer or shown interest in Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela, according to the Spanish club’s president Jokin Aperribay.

Rumors had surfaced in the UK press last week that the Premier League title challengers may be interested in the Mexican as back up for Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.

But Aperribay denied over the weekend that there had been formal interest in any of the club's players.

“At this moment we have not received offers and no-one has asked about any player,” Aperribay told Mundo Deportivo.

Vela has repeatedly stated he is happy at the Basque club, where he has consolidated himself after a miserable stint at Arsenal.

The 25-year-old, however, hasn’t been in the best form in recent weeks, although the club’s manager Jagoba Arraste doesn’t seem concerned.

“He’s had a couple of slightly worse weeks, but it normal,” Arraste said in a news conference on Sunday.

Vela has famously refused to suit up for the Mexico national team during the last three years and is set to miss out on the World Cup, having discounted himself from a call-up because he is not "100% mentally” ready to do so.
