RB Scott remains with Bengals

Running back Bernard Scott visited Oakland this week to gauge the Raiders' interest in him but decided to stay in Cincinnati and sign a one-year deal with the Bengals on Friday.

Scott is recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in an Oct. 7 game against Miami. The Bengals brought him in on Thursday to evaluate his offseason recovery.

"My doctor says I'm ahead of schedule and I've had no setbacks with swelling or anything like that," Scott said, according to Bengals.com. "I'm already back to running and cutting. I feel like the way my rehab is going, I feel like, yeah, I can get back to being the old Bernard. Even better."

Before Scott was injured, the Bengals used him as a speed back to complement to starter BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The injury limited Scott to two games in his fourth year with the Bangals.

"I'm comfortable here. I'm happy here," Scott said. "I know the system. I've got a great relationship with a lot of my teammates and the coaches know what I can do. It's going to be easier than making a move."

Scott, 29, isn't sure when he'll be cleared to practice.

"I'm going to continue to work hard. I know camp doesn't start for three to four months, so I have to keep that in mind," he said.
