Rays minor-leaguer Rogers suspended 50 games for refusing drug test

The SportsXchange

Tampa Bay Rays minor league outfielder Cody Rogers has received a 50-game suspension without pay for refusing to take an off-season drug test, Major League Baseball announced Monday.

Refusing to take a drug test is a violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Rogers is currently on the roster of the Triple-A Durham Bulls of the International League and his suspension will begin at the start of the 2013 season.

Rogers hit .244 with four homers at Class A Charlotte last season.
