Ravens head coach John Harbaugh indicated Friday that he expects OLB Terrell Suggs to return this season.

“He is doing well,” Harbaugh said of Suggs, who’s on the physically unable to perform list with an Achilles injury suffered in March. “The main thing we want to do now is make sure there is no setback, and he continues to get in shape and continues to get stronger. He has been in every meeting. He is up to date with the football. Football shape will be a factor. As soon as he gets on the field, it's not like he is going to be back to Defensive Player of the Year form. We need to all understand that. Just give him a little space and let him grow into this thing. He is going to be back."

Suggs is eligible to return to the field in Week Seven, when Baltimore plays at Houston, but when he’s healthy enough come back remains to be seen. His conditioning also is an issue to watch. In short, it’s still very unclear when, how and if he will be able to help the Ravens this season, though Harbaugh’s confidence is notable.

The absence of Suggs, the Ravens' top pass rusher, has loomed large early in the 2012 campaign. The Ravens have nine sacks in four games, but the club's outside linebackers have only two QB takedowns.
