Baltimore Ravens defensive back Asa Jackson was suspended by the NFL for eight games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
It is Jackson's second violation. He was suspended four games late last season for violating the policy.
Jackson is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games but once the regular season starts, he cannot return to the team until after the Ravens' eighth game of the season. The Ravens play their eighth game on Nov. 3 at the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson, in his second season, was drafted by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. He played sparingly in two games last season, including one playoff game.
