It started raining in the top of the first inning Sunday and the showers turned harder with the Brewers batting in the bottom half. Umpires stopped the game as the roof slid closed, but it takes about 10 minutes for the roof to fully shut.
During the delay the grounds crew put dry sand around the batter's box, the pitching mound and near the bases. Most of the Phillies stayed on the field. Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks was on first base, and he went back to the Brewers dugout for a several minutes.
There was a chance for showers in the Milwaukee area. Radar, though, showed only a small band that popped up over the stadium.
The side panels in the outfield remained open.
