Rangers' Perez suffers broken arm

Left-handed Martin Perez, who had been a contender for a spot in the Texas Rangers rotation, suffered a broken left forearm when he was hit by a line drive in Sunday's spring training game against the Seattle Mariners.

Specifically, Perez fractured the ulna bone.

Perez, 21, hadn't allowed a hit in his three innings of work before the injury.

It's unclear how long Perez will be sidelined.

The Perez injury may cause the Rangers to try to sign Kyle Lohse, Harball Talk reported.
