The Texas Rangers sent outfielder Nelson Cruz to a hospital Friday for tests Friday after he experienced soreness in his chest. The team said the pain that Cruz experienced when he woke up Friday morning was not considered serious and the tests were precautionary. "Nelson Cruz has what we believe to be a muscle strain in the chest," assistant GM Thad Levine said. "We've just sent him to the hospital to do a battery of tests just to make sure it's not more serious than something muscular." Cruz is expected to play for the Dominican Republic in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, but his is status is now unclear, Levine said.
