Rams release G Dahl

The SportsXchange

The St. Louis Rams released guard Harvey Dahl on Monday, saving $4 million in salary cap room.

Dahl originally signed with the Rams as a free agent in 2011. He started 39 games, but injuries slowed him in each of the past two seasons. In 2013, the 32-year old Dahl played in just nine games.

Dahl's release had been expected as the Rams looked for ways to create some additional flexibility entering free agency.

Dahl was owed a $2 million roster bonus on the third day of the league year that starts on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Rams will have about $15 million in salary cap space when the bidding begins, according to ESPN.com.
