Raiders sign Taiwan Jones to extension

The Oakland Raiders took care of one of their top special teams players on Monday.

The organization announced that it signed cornerback and special teams standout Taiwan Jones to a three-year extension. Multiple reports place his new deal at $4.355 million.

Jones was drafted as a running back but converted to the defensive side of the ball before the 2013 season. He led the Raiders in special teams tackles with 13.

“It’s a blessing,” Jones said in a statement released by the Raiders. “It’s rare to see and to know that my local team wants me to stay home, and it’s just a blessing. I’m glad to be part of it, happy to remain here and there are big things coming that I am happy to be part of it.”
