Raiders sign OL Jack Cornell from practice squad

AP - Sports

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- The Oakland Raiders have promoted Jack Cornell from the practice squad to the active roster to add depth to the offensive line.

The Raiders waived defensive lineman Brian Sanford on Saturday to make room for Cornell.

Oakland is thin on the line heading into Sunday's game at the New York Giants. Right tackles Tony Pashos (hip) and Matt McCants (toe) are out with injuries and rookie Menelik Watson will make his first career start.

Cornell has appeared in one game for the Raiders this season on Oct. 6 against San Diego.
