The Raiders announced Thursday that they cut CB Stanford Routt. The seventh-year veteran had signed a contract extension last offseason.
Routt has played in all but two games in his seven years with Oakland. In 2011, Routt had 15 passes defensed and four interceptions, both career-highs.
Last February, Routt signed a three-year deal worth $31.5 million, with $20 million guaranteed. According to Scout.com's Aaron Wilson, Routt restructured his deal in August, boosting the deal to five years for a total of $54.5 million.
Routt was the team's No. 1 corner last season after parting ways with Nnamdi Asomugha. The Raiders have Chris Johnson, Chimdi Chekwa and DeMarcus Van Dyke at corner on the roster.
