Raiders' McClain granted permission to seek trade

Rolando McClain's tumultuous run with the Oakland Raiders is on the rocks, and likely coming to an end.

McClain was granted permission to seek a trade by the Raiders, NFL Network reported. The Raiders have turned over more than 33 percent of the roster since Reggie McKenzie was hired as general manager in 2012.

The eighth overall pick in 2010 after an All-American season at Alabama, McClain is expected to be released. Teams are aware the Raiders are ready to part ways with McClain and his $4 million salary in 2013.

The two sides haven't been on amicable terms since McClain was demoted in favor of Omar Gaither and subsequently suspended two games for his reaction to the news for conduct detrimental to the team.

At the time, coach Dennis Allen did his best to frame a picture of the two sides sticking together through the thick of it.

"I laid out exactly what the expectations are for him moving forward," Allen said last season. "Really that's about it. We're moving on from there. Rolando's part of this team and we're going to move on."

At any time, it's likely the Raiders will simply move on without McClain.

He's just 23 and versatile at 6-4, 259, having played multiple positions for the Crimson Tide.
