Fantasy Football 2014:

Idle Dolphins RB Moreno might need surgery

The SportsXchange

Running back Knowshon Moreno, signed to a one-year deal as a free agent, still isn't ready to take the field with the Miami Dolphins.

It is possible Moreno, a standout performer in Denver last season, will require surgery on his sore knee. Depending on the exact operation, Moreno could miss training camp and beyond. Reports vary on the severity of the injury, but even athroscopic surgery would include a recovery time of 1-2 months.

He dodged direct questions about what was keeping him on the sideline during OTA and minicamp.

Moreno claimed he is not concerned that incumbent starter Lamar Miller took the first string snaps during OTAs while Moreno was obviously not in top physical condition.

"I am definitely not there yet," Moreno admitted, adding "once (training) camp comes, I'll be good."

Donald Thomas and Miller were average at best last season, whereas Moreno was a key cog in the Broncos' record-setting offense. He played 15 games for the first time in his career and rushed for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns before hitting free agency for the first time in March.
