QBs Kafka, Scott, CB Trufant among Jaguars' cuts

Mike Kafka and rookie Matt Scott were released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who for now have kept recently-acquired Ricky Stanzi as the third quarterback behind Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne.

The Jaguars also released veteran cornerback Marcus Trufant, who spent the past several seasons playing for Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley when both were in Seattle.

Ten other veterans released were Jeremy Ebert, defensive end Pannel Egboh, running back Jonathan Grimes, linebacker Brandon Marshall, wide receiver Charly Martin, offensive tackle Pat McQuistan, guard Drew Nowak, cornerback Kevin Rutland, defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith and linebacker Julian Stanford.

Rookies who were waived included: defensive tackle T.J. Barnes, offensive tackle R.J. Dill, tight end Ryan Otten, wide receiver Tobais Palmer, safety Steven Terrell and linebacker Mike Zimmer.

"It's always tough to let go of men that have played such an important role in what we are building here," Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said. "We are excited to get the 2013 regular season underway and we will continue to compete on a daily basis to build the best roster possible."
