Pujols sits out Sunday's game

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols was not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles because of soreless in his foot.

Pujols has been bothered by the plantar fasciitis throughout his career, including early this season, but has continued to play.

The Angels have an off day on Monday, so the team is hoping the extra rest will help.

"With Albert, we just wanted to take a day to regroup, use tomorrow and see where he is Tuesday," Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday, according to MLB.com.

Prior to his absence from Sunday's lineup, Pujols had played five of the past six games at first base, including all 19 innings of Monday's game in Oakland. Pujols has played 16 games at first base for the Angels and 14 at DH.

Pujols is hitting .237 with five homers this year.
